Comedian Shawn Pelofsky: Bad Jew

Shawn Pelofsky discusses her life as a Jewish comedian and how her religion has come into play throughout her career. She also describes her experience opening for Bill Maher and the first time she met Bette Midler. We also discuss her unique role in the movie "This is Meg".  This is a very funny and informative interview. Don’t miss it!

Shawn Pelofsky was born in Oklahoma. Performing since the age of 8, it's only natural that Shawn decided to pursue a career in comedy. She attended the University of Southern California and received a B.A. from The School of Theater. During her time at USC, she joined an improvisational group "Comedius Interruptus" which became her motivating force to train at The Groundlings.

By the age of 20, Shawn Pelofsky was performing sketches and improv with Will Ferrell. With a couple years of improv under her belt, she became a member of The ACME Comedy Theater. During her time at ACME, Shawn flourished in the field of stand-up comedy culminating with her current status as a regular at The World Famous Comedy Store. When she's not touring or performing for our troops in places like Afghanistan, Bosnia, Bahrain and Guantanamo Bay, Shawn performs weekly on their infamous Main Room stage. Adding to her many comedic accolades, Shawn has been featured in The Montreal "Just for Laughs" Comedy Festival and in the all female hit comedy tours Pretty Funny Women, Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad, and The Hot Tamales produced by Eva Longoria. She has opened up for greats such as Richard Lewis, Robert Klein, Bill Maher and Margaret Cho.

Shawn has given the comedy competition circuit a run for its money as a finalist for The Funniest Woman in Orange County and in Comedy Central's "Laugh Riots". Her television and film credits include Community (NBC), Lip Service (Showtime), The Gossip Queens (LOGO), Chelsea Lately (E!), Pretty Hurts (LOGO), Comics Unleashed (ABC), The Tonight Show (NBC), Pauly Shore's Minding the Store (TBS), Last Comic Standing (NBC), Playboy Channel and Free Enterprise starring William Shatner.

This is Jilly w/ Jill-Michele Meleán

Jill-Michele Meleán, "Jilly" was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She declared at a young age that she wanted to be like Bette Davis, Joan Crawford and Benny Hill. 

Jilly started in theater and took her natural comedic timing to the stand up stage, headlining across the country while continuing her acting career. After many years of hard work, she's made a name for herself in the Comedy Television world with memorable performances on FOX's “MadTV" and Comedy Central's "Reno 911".

She is currently filming a feature film entitled "This is Meg". Which is based on true events, "This is Meg" is a transparent look into the L.A lifestyle of a "working but not famous" comedienne and actress.

Jill joined us on the show and we discussed everything from her early career in acting to the making of “This is Meg”. She explained how her experience on MadTV helped shape her understanding of the business. We discuss her upcoming stand up hour special. Jilly is an extremely hard working and talented entertainer.
