The Gospel of Atheism and Freethought According to Michael Sherlock

michale sherlock.jpg

Michael Sherlock on the Mythicist Milwaukee Show

Michael A. Sherlock is an atheist author who, was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, and spent many years in Tasmania. He studied social Anthropology and Sociology, Political Science, and Law at the University of Tasmania and became fascinated by the myths of our ancient ancestors. This fascination led him to study comparative mythology, which in turn led him to investigate the non-Judaic origins of the Bible.

Sherlock's aim as an author is to expose the "sacred" lies, frauds and forgeries of religion. Sherlock says: "Before we can clear a path to finding truth, whatever that may be, we must first neutralize the filth which has infected the minds of so many...supernaturalism, superstition, pseudo-science, and religion, all embody this mental filth, and the scientific method, with its humble, honest and evidence-based approach to questions of probable truth, represents the neutralizer." He is the author of the 3 part book series “I am Christ”, and “The Gospel of Atheism and Freethought: according to Sherlock”. His new book is entitled “Blasphemy” and was published by our friends at Atheist Republic.

Michael takes us through some of his new book and explains why he states “ISIS is Islam or Islamism”. He also explains what the “atheist atrocity fallacy” is and why it is used to make atheism look like a negative ideology. We put to bed the nasty and very false accusation made by CJ Werleman that Michael Sherlock influenced the Chapel Hill shooter to kill three Muslims over a parking spot, because the Chap Hill shooter liked Michael’s Facebook page. We cover all of this and more! Don’t miss this interview!

How did the "Pagan" Religions Influence Christianity? w/ Jordan Anthony Burich

Jordan Anthony Burich.jpg

Jordan Anthony Burich Joins us on the Mythicist Milwaukee Show

Jordan Anthony Burich holds an Anthropology degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and is beginning his PhD track this fall at the State University of New York-Buffalo. His focus is on archaeology, mainly an archaeology of religion, ritual, and cultural transmission. He is a dedicated skeptic who will--more often than not--opt for the simplest answer. He also enjoys discussions such as the following.

Jordan joins us on air and discusses his research into how ancient cultures and religions have set the foundation for what we view as the modern day religions ie. Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. Jordan has been onsite on various archeological digs in Cypress and has extensively researched ancient cultures.

During this interview we discuss how the Roman Emperor Constantine utilized the Mithras cult to further the political campaign of Christianity. We touch on how various scientists have challenged the religious claims of how the world works, and why their bravery was so important in progressing society. We touch on the ridiculous claims of the ancient alien theories and how nature inspired many of the myths that we know today. Don’t miss this fun and informative interview!

The Faithless Feminist w/ Karen Garst

Author Karen Garst Joins us on the Mythicist Milwaukee Show

Karen Garst is an atheist and a feminist. She started focusing on her atheism in 2014 when the U. S. Supreme Court issued its decision in Burwell vs. Hobby Lobby. In this decision, the Court decided that the owners of Hobby Lobby, because of their religious beliefs, were not required to provide certain forms of birth control to their female employees under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

Karen writes about women's issues and the role religion has and is playing in inhibiting the progress toward full equality. She strongly believes that the time has come for women to be able to openly and freely express their atheist views without shame and ridicule in our society. She has a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Karen Garst is currently editing a book entitled “Women Beyond Belief: Discovering a Life Without Religion” which will explore  stories of women who have left religion coming from diverse religious backgrounds. This book is scheduled to be out sometime in the Fall of 2016.

She has also created a blog and a YouTube Channel. You will find topics that vary from separation of church and state issues to well researched pieces on the mythological roots of modern day religions. One of our favorites is her blog that shows the evolution of the divine nature goddess into an Abrahamic figure. Make sure to check out her incredible blog and subscribe to her YouTube Page.
