Ali A. Rizvi is a Pakistani-Canadian writer, physician, and musician who resides in Toronto. He has recently completed his first book, The Atheist Muslim.

Ali grew up in Libya, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, as part of a progressive Muslim family, before he moved permanently to Canada in his twenties. As a physician, he trained in pathology (with fellowship in oncologic pathology) at SUNY Buffalo and the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and also holds a master of science degree in biochemistry from Ontario’s McMaster University. He is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post, and also plays with a rock band in Toronto.

The Atheist Republic w/ Armin Navabi

Armin Navabi joins us on the Mythicist Milwaukee Show podcast! Armin is a former Muslim from Iran and the founder of Atheist Republic, a non-profit organization with over one million fans and followers worldwide that is dedicated to offering a safe community for atheists around the world to share their ideas and meet like-minded individuals.

Armin was born and raised in the Islamic Republic of Iran and was indoctrinated thoroughly in the Muslim tradition. After almost losing his life in the pursuit of God’s grace, the devastation of that event motivated him to seek a better understanding of the nature and concept of God and religious belief. Armin’s journey led him to leaving Islam and becoming an atheist.

Wanting to reach out to others like himself, Armin continues to examine religion as well as the notion of God and interact with others to engage in thought-provoking and educational discussion.

Armin is the author of “Why There Is No God: Simple Responses to 20 Common Arguments for the Existence of God” which provides simple, easy-to-understand counterpoints to the most popular arguments made for the existence of God. Each chapter presents a concise explanation of the argument, followed by a response illustrating the problems and fallacies inherent in it. Whether you're an atheist, a believer or undecided, this book offers a solid foundation for building your own inquiry about the concept of God.

The Gospel of Atheism and Freethought According to Michael Sherlock

michale sherlock.jpg

Michael Sherlock on the Mythicist Milwaukee Show

Michael A. Sherlock is an atheist author who, was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, and spent many years in Tasmania. He studied social Anthropology and Sociology, Political Science, and Law at the University of Tasmania and became fascinated by the myths of our ancient ancestors. This fascination led him to study comparative mythology, which in turn led him to investigate the non-Judaic origins of the Bible.

Sherlock's aim as an author is to expose the "sacred" lies, frauds and forgeries of religion. Sherlock says: "Before we can clear a path to finding truth, whatever that may be, we must first neutralize the filth which has infected the minds of so many...supernaturalism, superstition, pseudo-science, and religion, all embody this mental filth, and the scientific method, with its humble, honest and evidence-based approach to questions of probable truth, represents the neutralizer." He is the author of the 3 part book series “I am Christ”, and “The Gospel of Atheism and Freethought: according to Sherlock”. His new book is entitled “Blasphemy” and was published by our friends at Atheist Republic.

Michael takes us through some of his new book and explains why he states “ISIS is Islam or Islamism”. He also explains what the “atheist atrocity fallacy” is and why it is used to make atheism look like a negative ideology. We put to bed the nasty and very false accusation made by CJ Werleman that Michael Sherlock influenced the Chapel Hill shooter to kill three Muslims over a parking spot, because the Chap Hill shooter liked Michael’s Facebook page. We cover all of this and more! Don’t miss this interview!

Atheist Republic's Jason "Casper" Rigsby in a Nutshell

Casper Rigsby Program Manager of The Atheist Republic on the Mythicist Milwaukee Show!

Jason "Casper" Rigsby is a 35 year old husband and father. He is the author of the bestselling title "The Bible in a Nutshell", and has published six other titles as well. .

He is a prominent blogger at Atheist Republic, and a very vocal advocate for out of the closet atheism. His works seek to address fundamentalism at its roots through theological and philosophical discourse, which is also highly irreverent and often even blasphemous.

He is straight-forward and blunt in his approach in advocating for secularism, which can be abrasive to some and refreshing to others.

Listen to the interview here -------->

During the interview, Jason shares information about the current projects that he and Atheist Republic are working on. We also discuss the middle school student in Katy, Texas, that claimed her teacher insisted she deny the existence of God. Instead of looking at the media hype that this story caused we got to the root of the claim.

Writing for Little Thinkers w/ Courtney Lynn

Courtney Lynn on the Mythicist Milwaukee Show

Listen to the interview here:

Courtney Lynn is a children's book author who mainly focuses on science and secular issues. She received her bachelor's of science degree in business marketing and has a minor in psychology.

Her own path to atheism and raising her son, made her realize that there are probably other children and parents out there going through the same struggles. As a parent to a freethinker, she realizes the importance of letting kids learn in their own way, all the while letting them know it is okay to be who they are.

She has written many books including:
"I'm An Atheist And That's Ok",
"It Is Ok To Be A Godless Me",
"I'm A Little Thinker",
"Please Don't Bully Me",
"Through Space and Time",
and "Sketti Tales".

You can purchase Courtney's books here: Her mission is not to give children the answers, but to provide them with the stepping stone to learn to ask questions and find answers.

A Community for Atheists Worldwide

Allie Jackson PR Director blogger and designer for secular international juggernaut known as the Atheist Republic joins us on the Mythicist Milwaukee show.

The following snippet from the Atheist Republic website says a lot about their mission and vision:

We are not afraid to call ourselves what we are. We are atheists and proud of it. We will not apologize for what we do and don’t believe. We will not rename ourselves in order to hide from hatred, and we will not stay isolated out of the fear of being demonized when united. We can’t stay silent while witnessing cruelty and injustice because we are not just atheists — we are atheists who care. Atheist Republic provides valuable news, resources and a medium for atheists to freely express themselves in a variety of ways, including discussion forums, blogs and image macros of thought-provoking, funny or inspirational quotes.

Allie shares with us how she transitioned from a Southern Baptist family into atheism as well as she got into her role in the Atheist Republic. We learn how and why Atheist Republic was banned from Facebook and how their great team and community pulled together to get them reinstated. The Atheist Republic's resilience in the face of adversity is an inspiring tale for anyone that wants to promote positive change in the world.
